Calibration wind tunnels

Our wind tunnels are among the world's most accurate and are specifically designed for the calibration of anemometers and wind vanes.

All of our wind tunnels are of the Göttingen-type (closed circuit, total length 38m). Measurements can be performed using both open and closed test sections. The test section measures 1m x 1m x 1.8m, and is ideal for the precise measurement of wind measurement sensors.

Calibration wind tunnel 1
Technical Facts:
  • Contraction Ratio: 5,5

  • Turbulence Intensity: >0.2 %

  • Maximum Velocity: 20 m/s

  • Electrical Power: 11 kW

  • In full accordance with IEC 61400-50-1:2022, previously IEC 61400-12-1:2017

Calibration wind tunnel 2 (PTB)

This wind tunnel serves the German national metrology institute (Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt – PTB) as a comparison and reference channel for the unit "m/s". In other words: In this wind tunnel, a PTB transfer standard is installed to represent the physical unit "meters per second" for air flows. In addition, PTB regularly conducts comparison measurements for national and international interlaboratory comparisons.
