Sensor Testing Under Icing Conditions

For the smooth operation of wind turbines and meaningful wind measurements, interference-free data acquisition by wind sensors is indispensable. But how certain do anemometer, sensors, etc. function in freezing temperatures? Are there other test results? How well does the heating system function?

WindGuard clarifies these questions in a separate Climatic Wind Tunnel. At a temperature range from -25 to 40°C,  both icing and heat simulations are possible.
